Link Love No.11!

Wow, thank you so much for linking you guys! There were over 100 links and I visited every one of you... but I got the flu, and there are things going on this week for me, it was very difficult to leave comments for everyone. I hope you understand...

I love visiting your blog and seeing what you have been creating. There are so many reasons why we create. For our home, family, friends, and just simply the love of doing it. When I am designing and working with my fabrics, I feel happy, I am thinking about who I'm making this for, and I feel I am being myself.

When I am visiting your blog, I feel that you are the same way. It is so nice to know that there are many other people out there who enjoy creating. I firmly believe that being creative makes us and others happy.

I found some cute things and some new talent that I can't wait to share with you... take a look at them!

I see spray paint bottles everywhere, it this a new trend? Someday Craft shared cute examples of her version with us.


I almost died when I saw these cute reversible pants for boys by The Train to Crazy.com. Aren't they darling? Not to mention very useful? My boys had reversable pants from gymboree when they were babies, but I love her's much better!

No Big Dill is new to this link party, but I can see her talent! She shared the dress her little girl designed and she sewed. The dress is stunning. I love the leggings she is wearing too!


I was at a book store last week and looking at Sandi Henderson's sewing book, and drooling over this skirt. Yards & Yards made this amazing Saturday Market Skirt. So beautiful. (Now I really wanna make one for me!)

Tutorial~Romantic Sash~

This is one of my favorite tunics that I bought at Target a few years ago. (and it was $7 at the sales rack!). Although, I like this a lot, it can be a little boring. So, I decided to make a sash for it.


{You will Need}


White or ivory color fabric
Lace 1 1/2"wide
Different lace to put on the ends of the sash if you prefer
Pearls
matching thread

{How to}

1. For mine, I cut 2 strips of 6" Wide X width of the fabric. It is better to have the length of {your waist X 2.5 or more} for a sash.


2. Sew two strips together to make one long strip.


3. With right sides together, fold the strip in half (horizontally), and cut both ends diagonally.


4. Leaving 4" opening in the middle, sew all around it. Turn the strip inside out. Press with an iron. Close the opening with a slip stich.


5. Sew the lace onto the strip.

6. Use fray check to seal the ends of the laces. The lace I had was a little shorter than the sash I made, so I had to be creative and added a little more on the end. If you have long enough lace, you can cut it diagnally and finish it with simple edge. Sew the pearls on.

  
It was a really quick project, and I love how it turned out. I am going to use this for my cargo pants and jeans too. Isn't it fun to discover that with simple accessories, an old outfit can have a new look?

A Secret revealed...

I have exciting news to tell you all... a few weeks ago, I was contacted by M&J Trimmings to take part in the M&J Challenge! Basically, they will send me a box filled with their goodies (laces, trims and such) and I will create something with those items.

I was so excited to be invited to this challenge and couldn't wait to see the items I am supposed to work with. Then, one day the package came...


Aren't they beautiful? I had so much fun working with them!

Well, laidies, the day is coming... The things I created and the tutorials for them will be avalable on their blog tomorrow for all to see. There are several other awesome bloggers who are participating in this challenge, I am so excited to see their creations too! Although, if you know me well enough, I am also very nervous; what if my things don't measure up to this challenge?! Link Love #10!

Hmmm... sometimes life throws curve balls. Something happend a little over a week ago, and I have been thinking about a lot of things. I hope I can talk about this with you all someday and laugh.

Still though, many things kept me happy, and the link party is one of them! I really had a hard time choosing my "favorite picks", because there are so many nice projects!

Well, I have to do what I have to do... Here are my picks for this week.

I know it is summer, but I loove this sweater by The Path Less Traveled Market. I wish I could knit like her.


Looking at her custom order wedding cakes made me wanna get married all over again!(of course to the same man :) ). Aren't they so pretty?


(406) OLIVIA shared Bamboo Framed Mirror Makeover. It is amazing to see what a little paint can do to an outdated item. I love the yellow roses in front of the mirror, it accentuates the white of the frame.


I want you to check out these "Kickin' it old school with name patches" by I am Momma hear me roar. I wish I did this to my boys' jackets when they were much younger. Simple idea, yet very very cute!


Paper Princess Chronicles shared her Magnetic Attractions. I love how they look; classy and new at the same time.


This awesome pack and go Nap mat was made by Mint & Clandy Create. It looks very stylish, comfortable, and functional. This will be perfect for the kids sleepovers, going on a picnic or to the beach! Great job!

Basket Makeover with Yo-Yos

I posted a Yo-Yo tutorial a few posts ago. I recieved several comments and emails about what I am going to use them for. I am sharing one of the ways to use your yo-yos.

I found this plain basket at a local thrift store the other day for 50 cents.(Yea!)


I spray painted it...


Then, I made lining with a drawstring. Using a glue gun, I glued the yo-yos onto the basket.


Gluing the yo-yos was really fun. Rachel loves her new basket bag. :)
I want to make one for myself, I better start making more yo-yos!

Link Party No.10 /My Little Project " Bleached!"

Welcome back to the "Wednesday at Tea Rose Home link party"! This week, I am going to close the link on Thursday night, and post the link love on Saturday. Since I usually post every other day, if I Post "Link Love" on Monday, and the "Link Party" on Wednesday, it's like most of the week's posts become one big link party post.

I love doing the link party, but my intention for my blog is not to be identified as a link blog. I wanted a little more space between the link posts. I am still trying to see what the best way is to do this, and I might change something in the future too. Sorry for the inconvenience!

I will share a project that I did... I named this project "Bleached!".

One day, I got a call that unexpected guests were coming... I had to go through my house and did some spot cleaning (who told you that my house is always clean? That is just an illusion...). The bathroom was one of the areas that I had to take care of.

The next day, as I was folding the laundry, I noticed that my shirt that I wore the day before had gotten some bleach on it! Noooo! Don't you hate it when that happens? I was being careful but obviously I wasn't careful enough. When I found the bleached area my face was like this:


I loved the shirt, but good-bye...I decided to make this into something Rachel could wear.


Here is what I did:

1. I cut the bottom area (that is the bleached area).


2. Cut the sleeves off too.


3. Open up the sleeves to make bias tape.

4. Cut 1" off from the top to make the neckline shorter.

5. Pin the bias tapes around the sleeve area and sew. Turn, pin and stitch.


6. I made a pocket to give a more kids clothes feel to it.


Done!

Rachel enjoyed watching the process of "Mommy's clothes become her clothes."

I enjoyed watching her wearing it and being happy. I guess my clothes getting bleached wasn't such a bad thing. ;)
