I guess I am a pretty easy person to please. I can see something good in pretty much all situations. Also, the simplest things (for example, the cake I baked turned out well or I grabbed the last box of cookies at the store... things like that) make me smile.
Last week the package my sister sent arrived. It had some Japanese sewing books I wanted... That made me super happy!!
I have been really busy lately, so I haven't had a chance to sit down to truly enjoy them. Although even just skimming through them, I found so many pretty clothes I want to make.
Look how cute this is!
or this:
When I used to live in Japan, one of my favorite places to go was the book store. Can you guess which section I spent most of my time in? Yes, the sewing and craft sections. There are soo many nice sewing related books in Japan, I miss going to the book stores over there.
One time, I tried to order two books off of Amazon Japan, they were about $10 each(I wanted to order 2 books), with shipping, the cost came to over $60! That is insane!
Now you know why these books made me so happy.
Is there anything that has made you happy lately?
Those look amazing!
ReplyDeleteAlmost finishing (finally) a re-cover sewing project on a baby car seat carrier for my daughter. Maybe tomorrow?
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful! And I am envious that you are able to read them!! :)
ReplyDeleteOh what a wonderful package! I, too, love those japanese sewing books. I have found mine on etsy - in the supplies section. Not quite $10, but not $60 either! Have fun :)

ReplyDeleteLittle things making me happy is a must! This week: ranunculus in a pot, a thrifted skirt, homemade blueberry scones... yum.
Being healthy makes me happy (I've been fighting odd illnesses for the last two weeks) and watching my son be a young man and surprise me with his abilities, that makes me the happiest.
ReplyDeleteThat is so nice of her! The two outfits you highlighted are very sweet! Enjoy
ReplyDeleteI really like the dresses on the cover of the first book. My 9-year old daughter would LOVE that!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! Packages make me super happy! I love when someone sends me a random or surprise package. I feel like a little kid again rushing inside to open it :)
ReplyDeleteI was walking through a fabric store with my mother-in-law, telling her how I wanted to make new curtains for my kitchen window. My current curtains are at least 8 years old, and weren't what I had really wanted to begin with. I just could never find the right fabric. Just as I was telling her what I wanted, I saw the perfect fabric.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds silly, but I think the angels sang. This fabric just makes me smile whenever I see it.
The Japanese sewing books are wonderful! They have beautiful photographs, their drawn out directions are so easy to follow. Can't get enough of them. I'm a tad jealous at the selection you just received! I bought mine off of ebay. Of all things I won the book for 99cents with $5 shipping. Its brand new. I LOVE it. So that is one thing that made me happy! The other, my hour long cat nap I had yesterday. Awww the best!
ReplyDeleteIn my house I love the European decor magazines. There just have that certain something.
ReplyDeleteThe thing that makes me the happiest right now is that there is only one week left in this school semester.

The text is in Swedish, but I guess the pics are pretty self-explanatory. I live in Stockholm and I truly love your inspiring blog.
(I'm also a newly won fan of Tokyo and Japan after spending a week there in October celebrating our 15th anniversary. I'll definitely go back and do some travelling.)
Riding my bike with my new basket this weekend made me so happy! Riding in the park as fast as I could reminded me of being a kid :) So fun!
ReplyDeleteWe remodeled our hall bathroom recently, but, for various reasons, I have not had the time to decorate it. I got it done this weekend and that made me VERY happy. I smile, every time I look through the door!
ReplyDeleteIt is interesting what makes us happy. Sometimes it's the little things.
