Sometime last week, I found some vintage patterns at one of the thrift stores that I go to. One of them was printed in 1957... that is a little more than half a century ago! I love the illustrations on these patterns. They were only 50 cents each! They reminded me of my forever fashion icon Audrey Hepburn.
I don't know if I will actually use them to make dresses for me(if I do, I seriously need to get back to my excercise routine to have a skinney waist like those models). I think, I can even frame them for my sewing room.
Hmmm... thrift stores are full of tresures, that is why I can't stop going there. It is also yard sale season; have you found anything amazing lately?
I LOVE those! I always want to have a 50s dress like that :) One day, one day... show us pics when you make one of them!
ReplyDeleteSo that means I am vintage now :) They are lovely patterns.
ReplyDeleteoh my... that's a great treasure you found....

Oh,how I love yard sales and thrift stores.. gotta love all the wonderful things you can find. I am amazed how we all have cast offs, and yet that one thing could be another's treasure.. it's fun and I love the patterns!!
ReplyDeleteDI and yard sales are my favorite! My most recent exciting find was an adorable vintage student desk in great condition for $10.
ReplyDeleteI love that style. That was an amazing period in our fashion history... at least I think so. I love the framing the pattern idea.
ReplyDeleteI posted awhile ago for Wednesday is Rednesday, some of my vintage patterns, that were all red dresses and skirts. I love the fashions from the 50's and if the sizes had been right, yes, a little bigger, I so would have made them. I plan on framing them as well as artwork.
ReplyDeletei got a few old ones too-LOVE THEM! i cut the people on the front out for cards and the patterns-tissue paper for my crafty friends!
ReplyDeletei love the illustrations, too ! & they do remind me of Audrey Hepburn... i plan to blog about my (70+) vintage pattern collection this summer (when i get around to it & we're not at the beach)
ReplyDeleteLove those patterns! I love thrift sales too. This weekend I found some vintage toys at a sale. One thing was a Roy Rogers holster set.
ReplyDeleteI love vintage patterns and always search for them at the thrift store and on ebay. Like you, I haven't actually used one to sew yet, but have framed one of them just because I loved the illustration so much. The ones you found are fabulous!
ReplyDeleteyou have a nice blog...your work aren't so nice!
