Custom Baby Memory Blanket

Sorry I'm a few days behind updating this blog. I've been sick the last few days.

Before I got sick, I took Rachel's old clothes (pictured below).

And made this blanket:

Rachel just adores her new blanket.

When I finished making this blanket a flood of emotions washed over me. Each square reminds me of what occasion she wore the clothes and how tiny she was. It has also reminded me of how fast she is growing up.

I thought this would be a great way for others to preserve their memories of their little ones and unclutter a few closets. So, I decided to post this service of making custom memory baby blankets on Etsy.

  2. Hi Sachiko! That blanked is just adorable. I'm always sad when Rebecca grows out of clothes I loved on her. What a great idea to recycle them like that. And Rachel is still wearing them...and she can make them into a tent too!

  12. Love this idea. I started saving lil bits clothes (well, ones I really loved) a few months ago (she's only 9 mos old now). I've cut them up in a way to yield as much fabric as possible, kept the trim, ruffles, button tabs, etc. I fully intend to make a blanket for her....funny how everything so far is shades of pink...:)

  13. Hi Sara,

That's good that you kept all the details. That makes the memory blanket so much cuter and special.

    Thank you for your comment.

  14. hi, your memory blanket is beautiful! I looked at your etsy shop, but the pattern isn't there that you mentioned in your post. Is it still available? I am a very very new sewer so would appreciate the advice, even if it means buying the pattern!
    thanks!

  15. Kristi-

Thank you for your interest in the baby blanket. Although I never had a pattern for this blanket. I used to offer to make one on my etsy shop. Things are a bit crazy right now for me so I am not doing that any more. Sorry!
