One day, I was at a thrift store before I had to pick up my kids from school. I scored BIG time on some beautiful vintage pillowcases... not only are they in such good condition, they were only $ 1 a piece! Yea!
I have been collecting vintage pillowcases for a couple of years now with the intention of making something beautiful. The reason why I haven't made anything yet is the thought of cutting them up is hard for me. What if I mess up, it's not like you can just go to a store and buy the exact same one. Well, I guess that is the beauty of vintage items. I have several ideas what I want to do with them; I might actually make something this summer.
Here are a couple of my favorites...
Aren't they gorgeous? I am having fun thinking about the potential projects... should I make a dress, a pair of pants? Bags... it's so hard to decide!
What would you do if you had pillowcases like these? Hopefully I will be able to share the pictures of the finished projects someday. :)
Ok friends, go ahead and link up!
1. Please post something YOU made. It doesn't matter if it is crochet, quilt, clothing, anything would be fine. I want to see it! If you use someone's idea or patterns please give them the rightful credit.
2. Link to your specific post, that way it is easier for everybody to find and read it.
3. Please grab the "Tea Rose Home" grab button, and link back from your post. If you can mention the party in your post or place the button on your side bar, that would be great! I want more people to have a chance to come and show off their creation.
Oh what gorgeous pillow slips! You cannot beat a nice vintage floral design!
ReplyDeleteMake a quilt!!! I just saw on a blog last night (but I can't remember where) a lady who had a group of other ladies that all made quilt blocks for swaps and then turned them into a quilt and they were all made with vintage sheets. Her finished product was soooo sweeet!!
ReplyDeleteI love the pillow cases. So soft and delicate. I always check our local DI, but so far have never found any [pretty] vintage sheets or pillow cases. When you do decide to make something with what you have, it's going to be beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIf I knew what to do (without having to cut them like you say) I wouldn't have a shelf FULL of these beautiful old sheets and pillowcases! I look forward to seeing what you come up with ;)
ReplyDeletei had no idea you've been collecting vintage pillowcases for a couple of years, they are lovely & only $1 each !?! what a deal. anyway, i highly recommend the book: Craft Challenge Dozens of Ways to Repurpose a Pillowcase. also i highly recommend pillowcase dresses, patterns are all over the place including the Craft Hope book. Dress a Girl Around the World collects pillowcase dresses :)
ReplyDeletehave a great day !
I vote for either making pillows, a quilt, clutch/purse or a skirt/dress! I can't wait to see what you eventually decide on :)
ReplyDeleteMake a pajama top and shorts for yourself! Or make skirts or a halter top. Treat yourself! Those are gorgeous!

Those are fantastic pillow cases. I have 3 that I was finally brave enough to cut up the other day...I'm going to make them into dresses for my little girl for this coming spring and summer.

I am sure they are super soft too! I saw friends blog and she used vintage sheets to make soft pj pants. Thought that was a cute idea. And they don't make sheets like they used too - even if I buy a high thread count. They just seem to fall apart but my grandmother had sheets that lasted a lifetime! Our washers and dryers probably cut down on their life now. Gone are the days of getting your sheets off the clothes line. Thanks again for hosting this link up!
ReplyDeleteThose are great pillowcases!
ReplyDeleteThose pillow cases are beautiful. Can't wait to see what you come up with.
