Crochet & Sewing Colaboration Project
I shared my Spider Silk Scarf project a couple posts ago. I also crocheted this while I was in bed. It started out as something to do and just to practice. I had no plans in mind. It was just blue rectangle... then I thought ooh! What if I make a pouch for Rachel?
I couldn't wait to get somewhat mobile, so I could construct the pouch with lining, zipper and add some embellishments.
I usually have tons of flowers that are already made from various fabrics. It is so fun to make fabric folded flowers, yo-yo's, and fabric covered buttons from scraps. They become so handy when I want to decorate a project in no time (they are awesome projects to work on while I am waiting for my kids at the car pool or at their after school activity!)
It turned out to be a perfect size for her, and she LOVED it! Hmm... What else can I crochet with just basic crocheting skills?

You are like a superhero and your superpower is embellishing things awesomely as well as sewing clothes.
ReplyDeleteOh this is adorable! The flowers are a super cute detail!
ReplyDeleteYou can crochet a hat, a scarf, a skirt, a flower ... I don't think I can stop if I continue enumerating .. :)P
That is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI love those button details! It really makes the bag. Great job!
ReplyDeleteI think you could make this blanket http://dottieangel.blogspot.com/2010/06/ordinarily-extraordinary-blanket-how-to.html
ReplyDeleteOr if not a blanket a cushion cover? Or a scarf. Have a look on ravelry. So many things. You don't have to know how to do things before you do them, just follow the instructions and learn as you go. If you get stuck just google it - or ask on Ravelry. Lots of crochet groups on ravelry. People crochet heaps of things. Crochet flowers are lovely. It might help to search for one of those on YouTube and see someone doing it. YouTube is very helpful for these things.
Good luck! Your pouch is really pretty, so if you can do that you can do anything you want.
It's so cute!
ReplyDeleteI had a little purse like that when I was a teenager and LOVED it. It was great to take with me to stake dances to store my cell phone, keys, and of course lip gloss. That one turned out so pretty! I love the flowers too.
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful! If you can just work out how to turn a rectangle into a pouch, you're ready for anything in crochet. I also took up crochet while I was sick for a long time. It helps, I think - to be able to do something useful even when you can't be up and about.
ReplyDeleteHave you done any round projects? I found that once I learned to crochet a sphere, nothing else was ever intimidating because I understood the physics.

What a beautiful pouch! Every element is perfect - from crochet to flowers and fabric!

ReplyDeleteLove the yoyo idea. I made some small bags awhile back and made some tiny crocheted flowers to add to them, I have tons of small and larger yoyos, plenty of buttons. The possibilities are endless Thanks for sharing your idea with us.
ReplyDeletethis is lovely!
ReplyDeleteI found one of your tutorials on pnterest and so discovered your beautiful blog. It's totally awesome :)
