I am recovering from the procedure I had last week and taking it easy.
In the meantime, let me introduce my new favorite food... pomegranate.
I was at the grocery store one day, and all of a sudden, I had this urge to eat pomegranate. I always have been a big fan of pomegranate juice (not to mention that I also have face wash with pomegranate in it), but I never really purchased them to eat.
Oh, how I LOVE it!!
I have been eating them on my salad, mixing them in yogurt with other fruit or eating them as is. I never get tired of them.
Do you have any good recipes for pomegranate? If you do, please share! :)

I eat pomegranates all the time...I can't get enough. But I just break one open in the morning and snack on the seeds all day. Sorry, no great recipies just the same love.

I don't have any recipes, but how about substituting them for cranberries in muffins or scones? Oh, and if you like dark chocolate, Trader Joes stores have chocolate covered Pomegranite seeds!

We just had these for the first time over the holidays. Spinach salad, feta, balsamic and these little babies. Yum.

I just eat pomegranates straight up. In Spanish, we call them "granadas" which is the same word for grenades! They do look like cute little bombs and the seeds "explode" in your mouth.
ReplyDeleteAt Thanks giving my Neice made a really good fruit salad with pomegranate. Basically it was all types of fruit... w/pomegranate and then no whipping cream (which is pretty daring in our family!LoL) and really good... cause you could taste the flavors of each fruit. Simple, yet good.

ReplyDeleteHere in Greece we make pomegranate liquor. 1c pomegranate seeds, 1c sugar, 1c cognac, 1 cinnamon stick. Boil them slightly , leave them 24 hours, filter them(coffee filter) and it's ready to drink!

ReplyDeleteIn my family we would put the pomegranate seeds in a glass jar and cover with honey and let them sit in the fridge for a few weeks and them mingle. Then we would add the infused honey to tea. And when we'd get sick we'd take a big spoonful of both seeds and the honey and steep it with hot water with a tea strainer and pop the seeds with a spoon. Toss what's in the strainer and drink the warm pomegranate honey water help soothe sore throats.

ReplyDeleteI don't really have any specific recipes, but I add them to almost any winter salad. Fruit salads, green salads (except the ones that have veggies like carrots or tomatoes in them...they go well with cucumbers, broccoli, cabbage, celery, etc.), sweet green salads (I often mix them with other fruits in a green salad and use an orange juice based dressing).
ReplyDeleteI just love them too! But only fresh. My husband also floated them in champagne one year on Valentine's Day! That was amazingly good.

I found a wonderful energy boosting recipe a few years ago. Mix pomegranate seeds, sliced mango, and blueberries and splash with lime juice. YUM!
