Motto to Live By

CSN store offers over 1 million products from over 200 online shops. You can find everything from bedding to cookware and wall art and decor. I have wanted to make some changes around the house and keep visiting their site. I think you will enjoy visiting them too. :)

Speaking of wall art...I recently made one for myself.

Ta-da!

If you get around in blogland, you probably have seen this type of decor. It is all over the place. I love the saying; it's simple, but so true and helpful.

One thing I know about myself is, I don't handle stress very well. So I try to keep my schedule organized, simple (if that's possible), and try not to over commit myself to things. Although, life happens. Sometimes, no matter what I do, I get overwhelmingly busy, and yes, I get very stressed out.

The saying I found last year, really helped to keep me grounded. In many occasions, I reminded myself "Sachiko, it's ok, it's not the end of the world, keep calm and carry on". Whatever serious situation or not, the saying "keep calm and carry on" really puts things in perspective for me.

One serious incident that comes to my mind is when my husband lost his job last summer. I was in shock, and scared for a bit, but I have children to take care of. Besides, being fearful doesn't help with anything. To have inner-peace, and just carry on with the things I can do in our everyday life helped to keep our family going, and made our bonds stronger. He found a new job in a little over a month, it was such a relief.

I will share another incident (not so serious, well, to me it was, but probably not to you) the saying "keep calm and carry on" helped me.

We were visiting my in-law's house, and I went to use the bathroom. I was washing my hands, and looking at myself in the mirror, when...!!!

I found my first gray hair! And there were three of them. Well, at first I thought, "No, that can't be. Maybe, MAYBE, when I colored my hair, I bleached it too much, so it turned a lighter color. Yeah, that's it, that's not gray hair."

AND, I did the thing people tell you not to when you find gray hair. I pulled them out. No, I wasn't thinking straight, don't judge me!

I had to make sure and investigate, if they are gray hair or not. My in-laws have dark cabinetry in their bathroom, so I put my hair against it. No matter how much I squinted my eyes, blinked and stared at it, it was gray hair. Gah!!!

I flushed them, got out of the bathroom, and was feeling sad.

It took me a couple days to finally tell my husband about my dark (well more like gray) secret. He thought it was so funny that it took me that long to tell him about it. He laughed "Hehehehe..." and gave me a bear hug.

Now I think of it though, it is a blessing that I got to see my gray hair. When I was born the doctors told my parents that I would not live past my teenage years, even with all the medical stuff I've been through. All in all, I am still here to see my aging process! I can't say that I am ready and bring it on, but I will remember to gracefully carry on.

My hope is that when I am old and mature, I will have beautiful silver gray hair and pretty wrinkles that only so many smiles can engrave. It will be wonderful, if I can offer wisdom to pass on to the next generation and wit and humor to lighten up a room.

I don't know what 2011 will hold for me, but whatever I do, and how I react in certain situations surely leads to what kind person I will be in the future.

"Keep calm and carry on"

Would you like to take a challenge with me?

Link Party No. 38! / 1200 yards

1200 yards; I did it!

I had this quilting thread for a few years. I love hand quilting, but the only time I hand quilt now is while I am waiting for the kids in the carpool lane, at the martial art studio and such; if I don't have anything else I have to do. Needless to say, the progress is very slow. I used the last thread that was wrapped around the spool today.

I hand quilted several quilts with this one spool. 1200 yards total!

Now, it is time to break into a new spool.

Hello, another 1200 yards.

It is your turn to show us what you have been working on. Have fun visiting each other and leaving comments. Let the party begin!

Here are the rules;

1. Please post something YOU made. It doesn't matter if it is crochet, quilt, clothing, anything would be fine. I want to see it! If you use someone's idea or patterns please give them the rightful credit.

2. Link to your specific post, that way it is easier for everybody to find and read it.

3. Please grab the "Tea Rose Home" grab button, and link back from your post. If you can mention the party in your post or place the button on your side bar, that would be great! I want more people to have a chance to come and show off their creation.

Thank you for your participation, and making this link party sucssesful and fun!

Link Love No.37!

Hi everyone, how was your weekend? Me? I stayed in bed pretty much all day. I am still not recovered from the flu (I don't know what I have), and the whole week was like that. I decided to take some much needed rest since I didn't have anything I had to do or be at, and I had my husband to stay home to take care of the children.

It's hard for me to just stay in bed and do nothing. Although I had a book I wanted to read, so it worked out actually. I usually don't have time to read several hours in a day (If I do, I am usually sewing). Today, I managed to do that between the cold chills, fevers, and severe coughs. I don't like being sick, but look at the bright side, I finished the book!

Hopefully, I will be much better next week and get going full gear. :) Meanwhile, bundle up everyone, and take care of yourselves so you don't get sick...I don't wish this on anybody.

This week’s link love...

Obsessively Stitching shares her cupcake pin cushions. Ok, I have seen many cupcake pincushions before, that is not so uncommon. BUT, check this out...she used a cherry coke bottle cap to make a tiny pincushion for her finger! How clever, and fun!

This pink dress was made by Nest Full of Eggs. I love the style of the dress and all the detail she put in. Very lovely...

Now, I don't have an apple tree in my back yard, but if I did, I would sure want this! Leafy Tree Top Spot shares the Apple Picking Vest she created for her father for Christmas. I love the fabric she chose; this is truly practicality meets style. Wonderful job!

Ms smarty Pants share a lamp redo. I love how she chose this shade of blue. It just adds the right touch of drama to the whole look.

Erin from Decor Allure shares picture of her finished basement. She and her husband did a wonderful job putting everything together so beautifully. I must say my most favorite is the built in bookshelves. They look amazing!

Another fabulous link party. Thank you everyone for participating!

Well, but I have great news I wanted to share with you all...

Pajama Party

I cut out fabrics for these PJ bottoms and night gown several weeks ago... I wanted to finish them before Christmas, well, that was wishful thinking on my part.

I finally finished it last week, and now we are enjoying them. The flannel is perfect for the cold nights...very cozy and warm.

When Rachel and I did our "Girl's day out and night in" while the boys were out skiing, we had a bubble bath, tried on new lotions we got from Bath & Body works (they were on sale for $3 a bottle!), did our nails while we watched a Barbie movie... with our new PJs on!

It was a great opportunity to spend quality time with her.
I am so looking forward to spending more mother & daughter time like this.

Tea Rose Home: The First Adventure in 2011

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!

I had a great time at my New Year's Eve Party. It is late at night (about 2:00 AM) but I am still on a bit of a sugar high, and am not sleepy at all. :)

I hope this year will be wonderful and full of happiness for all of you.

In my last post, I mentioned about there being something I wanted to post about...

Tam from Sew Darn Cute asked me to be one of the "Stars" in her Crafting with the Stars challenge! I was a little nervous, as I get when I try new things. BUT, I know it is good to get out of my comfort zone every now and then and to stretch myself (even if it is only an inch at a time). So, I gladly accepted the offer. I feel so honored to be in the challenge with such amazing bloggers, and I hope I will be able to keep up with them!

Well, whoever wishes to be in the contest, read this carefully... The auditions start today at Sew Darn Cute and go until the 15th. All the rules and details will be on her blog, so head over there to find out more about the contest.

If you wish to, grab the button to spread the word. I know it will be fun!
