New Jewelries with Colors Outside of My Norm

Bah... I have been sick the last couple of days and today I finally felt better. There are things needing my attention right away, but I wanted to take a little bit of time to post some jewelries I have created before I got sick.

I love to combine beads, charms, buttons and other findings to create one of a kind unique items. This time was no exception, but I worked with a different color scheme outside of my norm. Pink and yellow.

*Pink

I made a two layer pink necklace with solid color pink shiny beads to create very subtle drama...

Then, I made my usual. It is so much fun picking the right parts and moving them around till I find the right position for each one of them.

Then, this yellow beauty... Usually I am not a yellow person, but I love how this one turned out!

It is fun to work with different colors sometimes. I feel like I discovered I like yellow more than I thought after I made this necklace, if that ever makes sense.

I am always looking out for unique findings; if I have enough to create other color scheme necklaces I will share them with you. :)

New Jewelries for my Shop and One for Me

It was bitter sweet waving the kids good-by when they were off to school this last Monday. We made a lots of fun memories together during the summer but I could tell they were ready to go back to school. I have been spending lots of time with them more than sitting in my sewing room, and I am glad I did. In the last couple weeks when I had downtime I made some jewelries for my etsy shop and one for my self.

Do you remember this post? I posted some cute findings at a local gift shop a while ago.

I used the vintage buttons and things I already had to create this green themed necklace. I don't know why, but I have been drawn to green lately.

I love how it turned out and I know it will be a great addition to my wardrobe.

and Yes! I am already wearing it!

Here are some jewelries that I created for my shop...

Flower patch bracelet; this is one of my favorite pieces. I love looking at all the different flowers on the bracelet, So cute and different.

Vanilla Rose necklace; I love the simplicity of this necklace. I told you that I have been drawn to green. :)

Bee Keeper necklace. I am actually creating another one with different colors too. The combination of black and gold gives this necklace a more sophisticated look.

Flower Bouquet Ring: It is a fun statement ring you can wear daily.

Date Night bracelet; I LOVE THIS bracelet. Simple theme with a grown-up look. This bracelet can go with casual outfits as well as more dressed up outfits.

Was there anything that caught your eye? I will be adding them to my etsy shop soon!

Summer is Near Necklace

I have been wanting to create a necklace that looks delicate, versatile, and has a little more detailed design than just stringing beads. I drew up some designs and came up with this...

I was pretty happy with how it turned out, and had to take this for a test run. The beads and pearls I used are light beige, and as I predicted, it is pretty versatile with many different outfits. It has enough presence but it doesn't scream out "Look, I am here!"... this is exactly what I wanted. :)

I am going to make this with white or ivory beads & pearls in the near future. I think it will be a great addition to my summer wardrobe.

Tutorial ~ Mini Spool Necklace

I found this bag of wooden mini spools at Hobby Lobby for $1.99 (comes with 16pcs). They had several different sizes, but I chose the 1/2" x 5/8" one. As I was looking at them, several design ideas started to pop into my head...

Here are the things you will need...

4 mini wooden spools
DMC floss of your choice (I used 322, 597, 598, 775)
Leather string
5 beads (3 big, 2 small)
Multi Media Glue

*How to

1. Put glue on the spool. I spread the glue over the entire mid-section with the tip of the glue gun. Start wrapping the spool with DMC floss and do 2 layers. Put a dub of glue close to the edge of the spool, and glue the end of the floss.

2. Start threading the beads and spool to the leather string. You can use the finished picture as a guide as well, but basically, big beads go between the spools, and 2 small ones will go on both ends.

3. Make sure that spool and beads are in the center of the string. Then tie both ends of the beads, so they don't move around.

4. I left the ends of the string as is instead of adding parts. That way I can change the length of the necklace by where I tie.

This is such an easy (not to mention inexpensive!) project that it will be fun to do it with young girls too. I love how it turned out; I am going to make more in a different color scheme. Since I am always around sewing materials and notions, I feel like this necklace suits me well. :)

Jewelry Affaire

I felt like I could use a little pick me up last week. Then I received something in the mail...

!!!

After I shared my April necklace about a year ago here on my blog, I was contacted by Jewelry Affaire, and they were interested in the necklace. I knew it would be featured in their magazine, but I didn't know exactly when.

If you happen to be at the book store and find the magazine, please open up page 51...

There are so many beautiful pieces of jewelries in this issue (as usual), I thoroughly enjoyed reading the magazine that afternoon. :)

Ready for More Eye Candy?

I know, I know, I have been posting jewelries a lot lately, but once I started working with pretty cabochons and other parts I couldn't stop! I LOVE fabrics, whether I am making a quilt or doing a refashion, but it is equally fun, exciting, and refreshing to make jewelries. Do you like the necklaces above?

I also made some rings. How about pink and pepper mint green?

Or maybe gray speaks to you better?

These are one of my favorite rings. So springy. :)

I totally agree with the statement "money (or things) can't buy happiness", but cheerful pieces of jewelry certainly makes our day a bit brighter don't you agree?

I also wanted to say thank you for kind comments about the necklace I shared in my last post. There are many people interested in purchasing the necklace, but I don't have the exact parts to create the same necklace. As of right now, I don't think I am going to make them for sale, but you know, I never say never. I am thinking about listing some of my jewelries on my Etsy shop, but it depends on how busy I am with other obligations and such...but really, thank you SO, So, much for your interest, I appreciate it!!

One more thing... The giveaway for Olive Garden is ending soon; make sure to enter for a chance to win the $100 gift certificate here

She Wears Flowers~ Necklace~

I usually prefer simple jewelry, but I came up with this necklace with lots going on, with a bunch of colors... why not, it's spring.

It took me a couple days to really decide on which parts to combine, how, and the balance for the whole thing. I just LOVE the designing and the thinking process when I make jewelry.
I wore it twice already since I finished making it. Yea! to warm weather. :)

I know I will have lots of fun with this necklace during the upcoming season. Even though there is so much going on with this piece, it will go with so many different outfits. I was celebrating the early arrival of spring with the necklace.

Bracelet. Made.

Ever since I bought flower cabochons, there are so many ideas for jewelries swarming around in my head.

I have made some simple necklaces and currently am working on a necklace with lots going on, and I LOVE how it is coming along. I am so excited about it, and I can't wait to share the picture when I am finished... in the meantime can you check out the bracelet I made?

Ahh... I am longing for warm weather, so my wrists are not hiding underneath a sweater or coat.

Pinwheel Necklace

While attempting to learn machine quilting, and doing some hand quilting on a quilt, I am also trying squeeze some "jewelry making time". It is taking me such a long time to make up my mind how I would use flower cabochons I just bought. Since I don't wanna mess it up!

Meanwhile, I finished this pinwheel necklace today, and wanted to share the picture...

Just call me silly, but the color of red on the pinwheel is so fun and lively, I feel like I can be cheerful and busy creating!

I think I just created my new favorite necklace. I can't wait for spring to arrive. :)

Flower Cabochons

I will share some little happy makers that arrived a few days ago...

Aren't they so pretty? I hardly ever buy things online, but I just had to get my hands on to these lovely flower cabochons by Snapcrafty. I have some ideas for jewelry, and I really NEEDED them!

I will post a pictures when I am finished with the project. Stay tuned! :)

Tutorial ~ Eclectic Necklace ~

One of the jewelry projects I did recently is this necklace. I always wanted to try to make one with many different items and elements. I thought that it is a little more challenging to mix and match and I might be able to come up with something unique.

To make this necklace, I used wood, metal, and leather. I also mixed vintage items with new findings. Go ahead, go fish around the house... you might find some fun and unique items to make a one of a kind necklace!

{You will need}

35" thin leather cord
22 (1/2") Wood beads
Large main piece (in my case, it is a vintage earring)
2 Medium to large side pieces (I used a couple metal findings that I found at the scrapbook section)
A few more small findings (you can use anything...findings for scrapbooks, buttons etc.)
Fabric
Glue ( I used E 6000 clear type)

{How to}

1. Tie a knot at 9" from the tip of the leather cord.

2. Slide a bead on and tie a knot. Repeat this process with 9 beads. I left a space about 4" for the center pieces, and tied the knot for the other side. If your center piece and findings are something you need to put through the cord, you need to do so at this step before you start adding more wood beads.

3. Put clip on earrings in the middle of the opening. Glue it, and wait until it is all dry and stable.

4. Add flowers on the sides. I cut out a few circles from linen, put glue on and used them as "tape" to bond the flowers to the cord. Wait for the glue to get hard for each flower.

5. Add smaller findings to fill out the spaces between the bigger pieces. Use the same method to glue them on.

6. Done!

I wore it with white clothes, but the necklace goes well with other things too.
