Thanksgiving Giveaway!

I can't believe it's been almost a month since I last updated my blog. I posted a few things on Instagram in the last few weeks, because it is much easier to shoot a picture and post it with my phone, but the truth is that I wasn't in much of a mood to do any social media after the surgery. I wonder if I was going through a mini depression of sorts. The first couple of weeks after I came home, I stayed in bed most of my time and either slept, read, or watched TV; which is very unusual for me. Usually I already have a hand stitch project ready by my bed and I would have been working on that. When I delivered my second son through c-section, I was doing applique in my hospital bed by day 2. This time, I really didn't have much desire to do that. When I thought I was getting better, I got an infection. With that, my recovery was set back a couple more weeks.

The last week or so, I starting to feel like myself again. I am up and doing more. Don't worry, I am still being very careful and not lifting anything heavy, but, I am doing light cooking (which my family loves!), putting some make-up on everyday, and I started creating again. As you can tell by the title, I am hosting a Thanksgiving giveaway. I will give you the entry details, but first, let me share what I am thankful for.

Every year, I would say I am thankful for my family and friends. I would say the same thing this year also, but I say it with much deeper meaningful feelings attached.
Diagnosed with cancer and going through a double mastectomy really reminded me of how our life is very fragile and precious. I have been through a lot medically since I was little and I have thought about mortality in the past too, but your prospective changes when you are a mother of three.

I REALLY. DON'T. WANT. TO. DIE. I want to stick around much longer; watch them grow, thrive, and be there when they need a shoulder to cry on. Sure my kids are not little anymore and my role as a mother is changing, but my job as a mother is never over. Then I thought about the many people who had to go either by accident, through illnesses, or whatever reason. My heart saddens to think about them, about how they must have wanted to stay with their loved ones too. Also it gave me renewed perspective to treasure my family and the other people in my life and not to take them for granted.

My life is not perfect; and boy, I am far from perfect. I do complain about the small stuff too, but the last few months really gave me a reality check of what is more important. These are the things I am thankful for this year and probably they will be at the top of my thankful list for as long as I live.

I am thankful for my life. I am thankful waking up every morning and a chance to do good and do better.

I am thankful for my family and friends. I pray every day about how grateful I am to have them in my life.

I am thankful for the gospel. I am thankful that I can rely and trust in God to help me seek the many small miracles in my life rather than the faults. It has always given me strength to pull through in difficult times.

I still have some concerns about my health and I met an oncologist last week. I don't know how everything will turn out, but I want to live my life with fullest of gratitude and love everyday. :)

I thought about all my friends who helped me though this difficult time and I thought I will do a giveaway not only to benefit the winner, but her friends too!! One lucky winner will receive: one Tiny Tin Sewing Room, and 7 bags of goodies for your friends! The bag contains a stick-able bottle cap pincushion, measuring tape and clips. I bet they will make fun gift exchange for Christmas. So, are you ready for the giveaway details? The rules are simple:

1. First entry: Leave a comment and share what you are thankful for.

2. Second entry: Go to my Instagram page and enter there as well.

I will post the winner on the morning of the 23rd. Good luck everyone!

Thanksgiving Giveaway! ~ Tiny Tin Sewing Room

As the title says, it's giveaway time: Tea Rose Home style! I can't believe it is almost Thanksgiving, and after that, Christmas and New Year comes in the blink of an eye. This is the season I (probably a lot of us) look back and reflect on the things that happened this year. I am generally a happy and thankful being but more so around this time of the year.

There are so many things that I am thankful for and here are some off the top of my head...

I am thankful for my family. They keep my life busy, full, interesting and happy.

I am thankful for my upbringing and past experiences good and bad. All of them combined made me who I am today.

I am thankful for the roof over our heads, food on our table and clothes on our backs. I know it sounds corny and boring, but I am grateful for these basic things each and everyday.

I am thankful for that I didn't have any major health crisis this year.

I am thankful that I found what I love to do early on in my life. Besides being a wife to my wonderful husband and a mother to our children, creating and expressing whats in my head in various ways made my life so much more enjoyable.

Now, are you ready for the giveaway rules? It is very simple:

1. Leave a comment here and share what you are thankful for.

2. For a extra entry, follow me on Instagram ( https://www.instagram.com/tearosehome/ ) and let me know your user name.

That is it. I will close the giveaway on the 23rd at 11 pm and announce the winner on the morning of the 24th.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Thanksgiving Giveaway!

I know this is last minute, but I am doing a Thanksgiving giveaway. I started earlier on my Instagram, and asked people to share a picture of what they are grateful for with hash tags but there aren't many entries. Of course not, because I totally forgot to post what the prizes are going to be. I had the intention to do so right away, but it slipped my mind!

So... let's do this right. Here are the prizes I decided to giveaway.

Pink Eclectic Statement Necklace

Black Bee Keeper Necklace

My Winter Daisy PDF pattern

Here are the rules;

1. Leave a comment here tell us all what you are grateful for.(1st entry)

If you want to enter more than once...

2. Follow me on Instagram (2nd entry)

3. Share what you are grateful for at #tearosehomesoblessed

I will announce the winner on the 29th. Good luck everyone!

Infinite Scarf Giveaway Winner!

Before I announce the winner, I should clarify why I named the scarf "infinite scarf" instead of "infinity scarf". Nope, it wasn't a mistake (although I misspelled the first time) naming it that way.

I just thought that infinity scarf is everywhere and it is kind of boring. My version, which is cutting the fabric in bias instead of a straight cut is original and new. I wanted some name that differs from "infinity" eventhough the end result looks pretty much the same.

Then I had the thought (after everything that happened)... I probably should have named it infinity scarf, just so that when people are looking for the tutorial, they can find it easily. Hardly anybody is gonna type "infinite scarf" to look for the infinity tutorial. So, when I am going to repost the tutorial, I will probably change the name a little. :)

I had over 150 entries for this giveaway; combining blog comments, new Instagram follower and comments to the Riley Blake post. Thank you so much for participating everyone! So, are you ready for the big reviele? The winner for the scarf is....

Congratulations!!! Please email me your shipping info, the scarf will be on its way!

I feel bad that I can only give away one scarf, especially feeling so much love and support after that mess. So, I am planning on doing another giveaway in November! I will let you know the details later, so check back often. :)

Thanks again for your participation. You guys are the best!

Downeast Home Visit and $200 Shopping Spree Giveaway!

Since we moved to our house last year I have been buying furniture here and there. Where is my favorite place to buy furniture, you ask?

Downeast Home

I go in there all the time to see what is available, because I always find attractive furniture at affordable prices. They also have tons of stylish accessories for your home. I just visited them last week, I will share some pictures to show you what I mean...

I love this gray bookshelf with ladder. The combination with white and a splash of red gives it a sophisticated look.

Looking at this make me wanna redecorate my dining table.

I love white, it's my favorite color, but I think it would be so fun to have a red leather chair like this in the living room or foyer. It would be a great statement piece.

If you like rustic furniture, I know you can find some here...

They also offer a variety of furniture for kids. What a fun collection of colors!

Look at these mini cacti!! I fell in love with them and bought some in different sizes for my front room.

The old fashioned phone... I didn't check if it's useable, but it sure would make a great decoration!

I love this setting, I mean the leather chair, the coffee table and everything. But, what I really love is this glass vase. It is multi dimensioned and looks so unique.

Phew... What do you think? These are only a small part of what they offer.

Now, here is the good news... you have a chance to win a $200 shopping spree at Downeast Home!! Just follow the link and get more details for the giveaway. The giveaway ends on the 18th, so hurry!

Fabric Blooms ~ Book Review and Giveaway!

Oh I so am excited about today's post! Not only was I given an opportunity to review this new book by Megan Hunt, I can do a giveaway for my readers as well. Before I get to the giveaway details, let me share something about this book with you...

Megan is the voice and creativity behind the popular blog Princess Lasertron. She is a wedding designer (and much more!) and her beautiful works have been featured in leading magazines several times. She has a keen eye for combining colors and I love how all of the flowers in the book are made from common materials.

There are 42 flower projects in the book. That is a lot of different styles of flowers you can learn to make! If you have been reading my blog you know how I love incorporating flowers in to my projects to add character and flair. The book is not just pretty to look at, it is a very useful reference book that you will enjoy for years to come. I totally recommend this book for someone who has been wanting to get their creative juices flowing.

Here is one of my most favorite project Prom Nosegay...

It has a really nice assembly diagram.

* Note: The images are posted with permission from Fabric Blooms © 2014 by Megan Hunt, Lark, an imprint of Sterling Publishing Co., Inc. Photography by Lark Crafts

Hmm... Dreamy...

So ladies! Are you all dying to see the rest of the beautiful book? Here are the giveaway rules:

1. To enter for the giveaway, please leave a comment on this post. I would love to hear what you would like to use the flowers for!

2. For an extra entry, share this giveaway on your social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) and leave the link in the comment section. (Sorry, without the link, I can't count it as an entry)

3. I will run the giveaway until April 9th and announce the winner on the morning of the 10th. If I don't hear from the winner over the weekend, I will choose a different winner on Monday the 14th. If you are the lucky winner, please send me an email with your shipping info. I will forward that to Lark and they will send you a copy of the book.

Spring is near and what an appropriate giveaway for the season. :) Good luck every one!

Book Review ~ Zakka Handmades by Amy Morinaka ~

I am very excited to share a special book review and giveaway with you!

Amy Morinaka, who is the mastermind of Chick Chick Sewing just came out with her new book called "Zakka Handmades". The book contains 24 projects that will help organize, adorn and simplify your life. I have known her blog for a few years now, and I admire the things she makes and the quality of her work.

I was thrilled to receive the book in the mail one day, and decided to get my hands going right away! I chose to make the "Fabric Bucket" on page 28 through 33. Her instructions are very easy to understand, and in no time, I had a cute and useful fabric bucket in my hands. I made my fabric bucket with laminated cotton for the exterior, and regular cotton for the lining. I love how it turned out.

Tada!
There are so many ways I could think of using this bucket to organize our stuff, especially between the move. I put some children books in it for now, and they are just perfect, sitting right next to the chair.

Then the thought hit me...wait a minute...maybe I can use this as a bag too...

The possibilities are endless, wouldn't you agree? Would you like to see the other 23 projects in the book?

Besides purchasing the book at the store or online, there is a chance to win!

Amy is giving away a book to a Tea Rose Home reader today!

{Giveaway rules}

Leave a comment on my blog. Do you have question for Amy? What kind of zakka items do you hope to make? You will be entered in for the giveaway!
I will end the giveaway on July 4th, and announce the winner on the 5th. The giveaway is for US residents only. When all the blog tour participants are done with their giveaways on their blog, the publisher is going to send the books to the winners.

Sounds fun? Go ahead and participate! :)

Norwegian Cruise Giveaway

It is that time of the year again…the kids will be out of school for the summer, and we get to have fun! We get to visit the fun places in our local area, such as museums, fun centers and pool. Plan a summer picnic with family and friends. Play outside all day and watch movies till their eyes droop. Sure, there are lots of things to do every day, but I also love going on a big family vacation too.

I don’t know about you, but it’s not like we can afford a costly family vacation every year. That is why when we have the opportunity to do so, it is such a big deal for us. To make sure that we get the maximum fun for our modest budget, I get busy researching and planning for our trip. What do I do and where to start? There are a few key points I think about when I am planning for our trip. 1. Where do we want to go? 2. What is our budget? 3. How do we get there? 4. Where do we to stay? 5. What kinds of activities are there? Are they going to satisfy everyone? What kind of restaurants are nearby? Of course your list might contain something different from mine, or the order might be different, but for our family vacation planning, those are the things that come to mind. Let me share some examples how I planned our family vacation according to my list…The last couple big vacations we took was to Lego Land and Sea World one year, and Disneyland another year.

Because we wanted to take our children to those places for a long time, the answer to the question No.1 was easy. The No. 2 question on the list… budget… Mr. TRH and I already had a budget, but we decided to add a bit extra just in case (which turned out to be a good thing… on one of our trips, our van broke down after we got to our hotel, we needed repairs and that cost us over $300!). No.3 on the list “how to get there?” took me a very long time, here is why. Because we drove instead of flying, I looked at the actual map and got on Google maps. I not only looked at the route from our home to the destination, after I decided on questions No.4 and 5, I went back and marked all the places we wanted to go. Then, printed out all the directions on how to get from point A to B, B to C, then C to A and such; then I put everything in a binder. You might think that this is unnecessary, but I am glad I did. Our navigator system wasn’t working, and we weren’t familiar with that area at all! That planning totally helped us and we never had problems finding places.

The next thing on the list was where we are going to stay. I started looking for all the nearby hotels. Comparing their prices, location, and all the amenities are very important. Also, some hotels have special offers such as combining hotel stay and Lego land/Disney Land park tickets. I spent a long time looking for great deals and it was totally worth it! No. 6 on the list is amenities, activities and restaurants. Since our vacations have been pretty economical ones, our family is pretty easy to please. Here are the few things I look for… a pool at the hotel is a “must”, being able to watch movies in our room, having a small refrigerator, and a microwave would be nice. I also look for other activities to do, and finding interesting restaurants is one of the exciting parts for our family. Phew… I feel like planning for the family vacation is a lot of effort and time. Don’t you agree? That is why one of my dream family vacations is to go on a cruise!

Have you checked out Norwegian Cruise Line lately? I have been doing some reading on their site and found out many awesome things about them! They offer Freestyle Cruising, there are so many activities and entertainment for people of all age groups, and the youth program seems very interesting. I have children ages 7 to 12 years old, and a 5 year difference at this age is pretty big. If we were taking our family on a cruise, I would want to make sure that we will all have fun. On their kids and youth program, there are many things that caught my eye. I know my kids will surely enjoy something like CIRQUE DU JOUR (a circus program) and many of their sporting activities. There are of course overall family-friendly ship features to enjoy too. After all, we go on a family vacation to enjoy each other and make lots of fun memories.  Head over to Norwegian’s site and find out more about their family vacation options.

Now, Norwegian and BlogHer are doing a sweepstakes for one grand prize - a cruise voucher for a family of 4!! This is one prize for all the blogs in the program---not a family cruise for each blog. “What is your dream vacation for your family?”  Answer in the comments section below for a chance to win!

Olive Garden Review & Giveaway!

Hi all! Today I am posting a review for Olive Garden (make sure to read till the end of the post, there is a special giveaway for Tea Rose Home readers by Olive Garden!)

When I got the offer to do a review for them I squealed with joy! Olive Garden has been one of my favorite restaurants for years. When Mr. TRH and I were newlyweds we didn't have much money to eat out. It was "THE" restaurant to go to for special occasions. After we have been married for so many years with three kids, Olive Garden is still our favorite restaurant.

I love their comfortable and friendly atmosphere. To me, it is a nice restaurant that I want to dress up for a little, but it's not so fancy we can't take our kids. In fact, they offer a great selection & quality on their Kid's Menu, and I love their kiddie cups with lid, and the crayons & paper keep them busy while we wait for the food.

When I received the offer to do the review, the first people that popped in my head to take (besides the whole clan that lives under our roof) were my father and mother-in-law. I have been getting multiple procedures since October last year every three weeks or so, and sometimes it takes a week or more to recover. They have been such a wonderful support to our family during those times, picking up the kids from school the day of the procedure and keeping them for 2-3 days so I can rest better. My kids absolutely LOVE spending time at grandma and grandpa's, and I am so grateful they are so willing to help us. So, all seven of us went out to celebrate our "family". :)

My mother-in-law. Isn't she lovely?

At Olive Garden they are offering a new dinner special for $12.95. It is a 3 Course Italian Dinner. The 1st course is soup or salad...

Everyone's favorite bread sticks

Our favorite soup Zuppa Toscana. Did you know those breadsticks and soup/salad are unlimited?

2nd course is one of 5 new and exciting entrees...I really had a hard time choosing one, but being a seafood lover I had to choose Five Cheese Marinara Penne with Shrimp.

Mmm...I loved the sauce and the baked panko on top adds extra touch of flavor and texture

Wow, Mr. TRH took a picture right after I took a huge bite

3rd course is one of 5 Dolcini desserts. We all ordered different ones so we could taste most of them. What I love about their Dolcini desserts is their portion size. Usually I am too full to order a dessert after eating a dinner. They are just so perfect to end the meal on an even happier note. :)

I must say that my favorite is Dark Chocolate Cake. Are you in the mood for Chocolate mousse and caramel cream?

We enjoyed each other's company and spending time together with yummy food. Oh, wait; there are other happy makers my kids always look forward to. The mint chocolate. :)

So, that was my $12.95 3 Course Italian Dinner experience. Is your mouth watering? The special is running through March 18th so there's still plenty of time to try it! Are you ready to enter a special giveaway?

Olive Garden and BlogHer are giving away a $100 Olive Garden gift card to one of my Tea Rose Home readers!

To be entered for a chance to win, leave me a comment telling me your favorite course-breadsticks and soup, the main entree, or dessert?

Here are the rules:

No duplicate comments.

This sweepstakes runs from 2/21/12 - 3/18/12.

You may receive (2) total entries by selecting from the following entry methods:

a) Leave a comment (see question above in bold)

b) Tweet about this promotion and leave the URL to that tweet in a comment on this post

c) Blog about this promotion and leave the URL to that post in a comment on this post

d) For those with no Twitter or blog, read the official rules to learn about an alternate form of entry.

This giveaway is open to US Residents age 18 or older.

Winners will be selected via random draw, and will be notified by e-mail.

You have 72 hours to get back to me, otherwise a new winner will be selected.

The Official Rules are available here.

So, make sure to come back to see if you won the gift card. Good luck everyone!
