Red Quilt

Remember this shady red block? I finished piecing the quilt...

I really had a hard time deciding on the design of this quilt, but I am glad I went with something simple.

My mom is not really into bold patterns, and busy designs, so I know she will love this.

I am enjoying the time with my family during the Memorial Day weekend, but every now and then, my thoughts wander to how to finish this quilt. Since I am starting to get used to machine quilting, there are a couple ideas I am curious to try, but I know my mom LOVES looking at hand quilted stitches. Hmmm... What to do, what to do.

Because the quilting can change the whole look of the quilt, I am stuck (again) and trying to make up my mind. Hopefully I can finish this quilt before her birthday.

  2. I love the attention to detail and design that goes into all your work. You made your mom a beautiful quilt. I cannot believe how quickly you can turn out a project.

  3. It is lovely! I know how gorgeous your hand quilting is...but I know how much time it takes too. I say just stare at it for a day or two, the perfect quilting style will come to you!

  4. I wouldn't have thought to do a pieced block with different shades of the same color. I love it! It's a beautiful quilt.

  5. Oh how pretty! I'm super curious to see how you quilt this one; my first quilt (that isn't finished) is a similar pattern (a rail fence?).

  8. This quilt is so sumptuous - I would say it does deserve to be hand quilted, particularly if your mother is somebody who would appreciate all the work that goes into hand stitches.

  9. You should name it Rose Red or Rose Petal Red. It's beautiful.

Muchas gracias.

It's a beautiful quilt that, hehe, I will follow. He sought a simple but cheerful and colorful at the same time. I did not know whether to use a gradient green but finally I decided to copy you completely because it is great in red. Thank you very much.

  12. I was hoping to see this quilt coming along. Gorgeous! Have you ever looked at books on machine quilting by Harriat Hargrave or Robbie Fanning? Maybe a mix of hand and machine quilting?
